Todos los códigos deontológico del periodismo existentes admiten de una u otra forma la verdad objetiva como ideal supremo del buen informador. Y ello porque se trata de satisfacer un derecho humano fundamental de la persona humana y de la entera sociedad, cuyos intereses prevalecen sobre los particulares del informador. La objetividad absoluta no siempre es posible en la práctica.
